I have to agree – driving in those conditions may be OK if you know what you’re doing but unfortunately at rush hour there are thousands of other drivers who don’t. I also suspect that even the best drivers in London don’t have snow tyres in their garage.

And another thing…I thought the economy had already collapsed overnight although I’m fairly sure that it wasn’t due to snow.

I dunno, Mike, I think I preferred the widespread discouragement of people from driving in S.London yesterday. Not specifically for their own safety… even in good weather, some of the shocking drivers round here cause me to fear for my life! But as you say, with a bit more general competence, this problem wouldn’t exist.

Or perhaps, you know… competent? I’m sure half the problem is folks who don’t know HOW to drive in slippery conditions.
